The Unplanned Future

In one of my classes I had to complete a life plan about my ideal life. Not really sure the significance of the assignment to the class but it was nice to daydream. I had never really thought about my ideal life before the assignment. After I completed the exercise I started wondering what my husbands’ ideal life would be. Would it be the same as mine since we often think alike? Or would it be completely different?

So, I had my husband do the life plan but I did not give him any hints as to what mine was. As I read his ideal life I could not believe the similarities between our plans, it was almost scary. We both had almost the exact same situations.

We had never talked much about what we wanted for our futures and where our lives were headed, we just took one day at a time and hoped for the best. After reading how close our ideal lives are and picturing what our future could be we decided it is time to start planning our future so that we can turn our ideal lives into our real lives.

So, my question is have you taken the time to think about your future and where your life is headed? Take some time and daydream about your ideal life and then make a plan to get there.  Here is the link for the life plan if you want to use it.  You will find it at the bottom of the page under “Special Download for Book Readers: Life Plan”

In case you were wondering our ideal life is to move somewhere more in the country and mountains rather than the city.  Don’t worry family, we will build a little cottage for you to stay in when you visit.

I think it’s really easy to go through life without a real plan–like, you’re so focused on the day to day stuff that you lose sight of your larger goals. This post is such a good reminder that we need to stop and make sure what we’re doing now will help us live the kind of life we want to live tomorrow!

The day to day stuff can be very overwhelming and if we let it control our lives rather than planning for the future we will find one day that we didn’t really get what we wanted out of life. Thanks for the comment and I hope you start planning for your future!

I am definitely going to carve out some time to do the life plan exercise. Thanks so much for sharing the link!! I think I will also have my husband do it (mainly for fun) because I can almost guarantee that ours will be completely different lol.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been meaning to draw up a life plan for a while but things (like life!) always tend to get in the way! Now that you’ve inspired me I think I’ll get on it. I took would love to live in the country, away from city life. It’ll take a lot of convincing my husband though!

I’m glad this was helpful for you. The life plan doesn’t take long to complete after you daydream for a little while and figure out what your ideal life would be. I always thought that I needed to live close to a mall and shopping centers but then I realized that online shopping is great so I changed my ideal life from city to country. Find some benefits to country living to try and convince your husband. Good luck.
